Short answer: yes, both are live in Luxembourg. As of 24 October 2026, Google's own help pages list Luxembourg among the countries where AI Overviews and AI Mode are available, and both work in English, French and German. Luxembourgish is not on either language list. For a local business, Google says nothing new is required: the same pages, the same index and an up-to-date Business Profile.
Is Google AI Mode available in Luxembourg?
Yes. Google's help page for AI Mode has a section called "AI Mode availability" with the sentence "AI Mode is available in the following countries, territories, and languages", and Luxembourg is on that list, between Lithuania and Madagascar (Google Search Help: AI Mode).
AI Mode is the chat-style search inside Google. You open it at google.com/ai, by typing a question on google.com and choosing AI Mode, or from the AI Mode button in the Google app (Google Search Help: AI Mode).
Google's announcements are less specific than the help page. In October 2025 Google said AI Mode was launching in more than 35 new languages and over 40 new countries and territories, "including many across Europe", but the post does not name Luxembourg (Google blog, 7 October 2025). The help page is the list to trust.
One exception: the same help page has a shorter list of countries for a newer model, Gemini 4 Argon in AI Mode, which is for paying Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers aged 18 and above. Luxembourg is not on that shorter list as of 24 October 2026 (Google Search Help: AI Mode). Ordinary AI Mode is not affected.
Are AI Overviews shown in Luxembourg?
Yes. AI Overviews are the AI-written summaries that appear at the top of some normal Google results. Google's help page lists Luxembourg in its "Europe, the Middle East & Africa" countries where AI Overviews are available (Google Search Help: AI Overviews). On mobile, you can move from an AI Overview into AI Mode by selecting Show more.
Luxembourg was not part of Google's March 2025 European expansion post, which named Austria, Belgium, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Spain and Switzerland (Google blog, 25 March 2025). It is on the help page list today.

Google's lists do not include Luxembourgish as of 24 October 2026. Google does not say what happens when someone types a question in Luxembourgish, so we don't guess. French, German and English are all covered. If your customers search in several languages, each language version of your pages matters.
What changes for local businesses?
Less than you might think. Google's guide for site owners, AI features and your website, says:
- No extra requirements. "There are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode, nor other special optimizations necessary." A page must be indexed and eligible to show in Google Search with a snippet. Google also says indexing and showing are not guaranteed.
- Same index as normal Search. There is no separate AI index to submit to. If Google can't index your page, it can't use it in an AI answer either.
- Several searches behind one answer. AI Overviews and AI Mode may use "query fan-out": Google runs several related searches across subtopics and data sources, and may show a wider set of links than a classic results page.
- Keep your Business Profile up to date. Google names an up-to-date Business Profile (and Merchant Center for shops) among its best practices.
- Traffic is reported in Search Console. Clicks and impressions from AI features are counted in the Performance report, under the Web search type, together with your normal Search traffic.
- The usual controls still apply.
nosnippet,data-nosnippet,max-snippetandnoindexlimit what Google shows from your pages, in AI features too.
So the work is the same work that has always helped in Google, done properly:
- Make sure Google can find and index your pages. Check it in Search Console: Get indexed by Google and Bing.
- Keep your Google Business Profile complete and correct: hours, categories, services, photos. See Google Business Profile.
- Describe your business clearly in structured data so the facts match everywhere: Structured data.
- Write pages that answer the questions customers actually ask, in French, German and English where your customers use them: Answer-ready pages.
- Measure the result in Search Console and your analytics: Track traffic from AI assistants.
An example. Café Ribeiro, a fictional café in Luxembourg City, knows that someone asking Google in French for a brunch spot near the Gare may now get an AI answer instead of a plain list of links. Nothing in Google's documentation tells Café Ribeiro to buy a tool or add special code. What it can do is check that its pages are indexed, that its Business Profile has the right hours and "brunch" in its description and menu, and that its website answers the obvious questions (opening hours, prices, terrace, reservations) in French and English.
How do I see if my business shows up?
Search for what your customers would ask, in each language they use, both in normal Google results and in AI Mode, and note whether your business is named and whether the details are right. Then look at the Performance report in Search Console over the following weeks. Google does not split out AI traffic there, so watch your overall trend and the queries and pages that bring visitors.
